“The hasty and the tardy meet at the ferry”

What a berk!

Changed all your clocks? - check !
Set the alarm? - check!
Switched it on ? - er ... no.

Yes I woke up at 7.10 this morning, thinking - "oh it's lovely and light isn't it?" , unfortunately this is 10 minutes AFTER I was due to leave for work! I had to get the handover in my parka, and get changed afterwards.

Yet another trip to the tip today! Where was I keeping it all???

“I like work; it fascinates me. I can sit and look at it for hours.”

That's better!
A hard days work completed, well by my own days off standards anyway. Shelves up, reorganising, tidying , and as soon as I'm done here, another trip to the tip! blimey charlie! That said, getting rid of all this junk has been quite cathartic, I literally feel lighter, and I have a little space to maneuver at last. Still an awful lot to do of course, if only my brother can get his arse in gear!

...and my oven finally works! - I'm off to get some pans! - exciting stuff eh?

Schlemiel! Schlimazel! Hasenpfeffer Incorporated!

My life is temporarily ruled by mucus. Surely the dullest conversation is a man telling you how poorly he is, so enough.

I finally got around to watching my Veronica Mars DVDs which have been gathering dust for a year or so. I bought it originally because of the Buffy comparisons ( and Alyson Hannigan guest stars) abut mostly because it was ridiculously cheap from Amazon. Anyhow (is that a real word?) it's a fun watch, witty, a little cruel, and just enough removed from the real world. Only two seasons left to watch! Then maybe I can finally get around to the last season of "Alias". I have far too many DVDs
(when did we in Britain stop saying "series" and start saying "season" it's a gradual takeover! )

“Diligence overcomes difficulties, sloth makes them.”
Benjamin Franklin

I haven't any revelations for you, it's one of those "I'm still here" posts.

I was sick earlier in the week, and before my six months probation was up on my last episode too! There will be trouble!
On Monday night I was shaking uncontrollably, I must have had a fever ; Oh men and their "illnesses"!
My glacier like progress to a presentable home continues, although saying that, I have achieved more in the past few months than the previous two years. All it took was an incentive it seems, and Barbara is such a wonderful one - less than three weeks to go!!!

I'm off to paint (a wall sadly, not my long awaited masterpiece!).

(see I told you so!)

“All music is folk music, I ain't never heard no horse sing a song”
Louis Armstrong

(I forgot to say that that video was by "The Bird and the Bee" - oops!)

I got a lot done today, yet another trip to the tip! How much junk was I hoarding - a lot!

I listened to an awful lot of "Rachel Unthank and the Winterset" today, well both albums at least. The first album is good but the second "The Bairns" is sublime, forget your preconceptions of "folk" music, it is wonderful! Strangely sad and uplifting at the same time!

Sadly I notice they are playing "in the round" in Newcastle the week after Barbara goes home - bad timing, I would have loved to have went together!

that's all for now...

(sadly no good Rachel Unthank clips on youtube)

(I'm really enjoying this show, it's been years since I watched anything on ITV!)

“Once made equal to man, woman becomes his superior.”
- Socrates

I have nothing to say (except to express frustration at the vagaries of Windows Vista, my laptop inexplicably lost touch with my network, and it took a long time to sort it, which it kind of did without me having any idea why!) oh it appears I did!

My toothache seems to have vanished , thank goodness, I'm sure it was something to do with the healing socket adjacent, but what do I know?

I stumbled across this fabulous song on a random play list earlier today. I'd heard it before but today it just "clicked" with me - So I bought the Album (for £2 - groovy!!)

(The video seems to be inspired by "two for the road" but amazingly I've never seen that, so I can't be sure.) See ya'.

"cuchi-cuchi"

It's two fifty in the morning, and toothache has awoken me , I thought a quick laptop session might help pass the time.

The picture is for Barbara, I do kind of remember this lady, as I used to enjoy Rowan and Martins Laugh in when I was a kid (70s BBC re-runs of course) I think she was in it ?

Did I ever mention the tendon problem I have in my right hand? it sometimes aches so much that I can't type or hold a mouse, so I am going to stop...

“I never got along with my dad. Kids used to come up to me and say, "My dad can beat up your dad." I'd say, "Yeah? When?"”
- Bill Hicks

Why hello there!

(I've got toothache again! Damn!)

My Sister had her Baby last week, by C section. He was a big fella 10lbs and 2 oz! Poor little chap is still in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, with an infection. He'll be about two weeks old by the time he gets home! I know I'm a Nurse and all but this is outside of my realm, and when it's a member of your own family all my experience and cool flies out the window a bit. I'm trying to be the cool logical one, who puts everything in perspective, but I wonder how they actually see me? Anyway little (actually not so little) Alexander seems to be on the mend, that's all that matters isn't it?

The BIG event in my life remains the impending visit by my wonderful girlfriend Barbara in about 5 weeks time (Jings and Crivvens!). As I've said before, I've so much to do to ensure she doesn't suspect I'm a lazy slob (I suspect she already does!) but most importantly so she has a comfortable stay! I want her to want to come back after all! - Stay tuned!!!

I can't get this song out of me head!
