“It's hard to dance if you just lost your wallet. Whoa! Where's my wallet? But, hey this song is funky...”

I've just watched "full metal jacket", hence the video (caution bad language!). Why do I mention this? Well the last time I saw it (a looooong time ago kiddies) I found it brutal, cruel and upsetting. This time I enjoyed it, but purely as entertainment. Am I now desensitised to the horrors of war after 20 years of movie viewing, or am I now wise and sage in my old age? - hell knows!

I do hope BBC4 gets around to showing the "Tara King" episodes of The Avengers. I haven't seen them since I was very wee, but Linda Thorson was so pretty, and unlike Diana Rigg - cute, and so sixties "dollybird". She had a brief singing career too (a CD is available which is half Thorson, half Twiggy - doesn't get more sixties than that) Her voice was slightly thin, like Twiggy's, but charming in that bubblegum sixties girl way (I've got a couple of tracks somewhere) - celebrity can carry an average voice a long way however!

Anyway I'm off to buy some DVDs (second hand of course!)

"When I was your age, television was called books"

I just wanted to post this youtube video - Brian Auger, Julie Driscoll & The Trinity - Indian Rope Man. It seems perfect in every way, gorgeous sixties lady, groovy Hammond (or is it farfisa, much loved by The Pink Floyd gentlemen - I digress) wonderful black and white direction. These lot are one of those sixties hidden gems that I love!

Of course I couldn't resist posting a second video - Mickey Dolenz with Julie Driscoll (look at those eyes!) and a rather interesting take on "I'm a believer".

By the way, we finally watched "The Princess Bride" last night, and I'm glad to see it has aged very nicely, I hate revisiting classics only to find they stink! It has so many wonderfully quotable lines - "unemployed in Greenland!"

I don't really like Bank Holidays!

"Ambition is a poor excuse for not having enough sense to be lazy"

Sorry for the delay. I've had a strange few days. As you probably know, the ward I work on has had a big overhaul recently, and the past few days have been really busy (I'm typing this on a NHS computer, in a NHS office, on a NHS lunchbreak). We are temporarily without a Ward sister, and the place is like a decapitated chicken, it knows it used to be a chicken and is still running around, but the lack of a head hasn't started to affect it yet, but it will - oh yes it will!

It's my daughters birthday today! she's 11 !

(A special hello to Andrea, for no other reason than that she deserves a special hello! )

"I went to San Francisco. I found someone's heart."

Something new tonight - I'm drinking a bottle of beer! Lovely Taiwan Beer from me favourite shop - Home Bargains! (only available in Northern England !) Strangely, beer intoxicates me much quicker than wine , maybe the gas transports the alcohol more efficiently in the bloodstream, maybe I'm an idiot!
The dreaded 13 hour shift tomorrow, and Fridays are notoriously busy - bring it on! (eek)

(one hour later) Just had a phone call from my Ex-Wife (as dictated through my daughter!) asking me to print out some coupons for my Daughters Birthday party at the MetroCentre tomorrow, as their printer had malfunctioned. I don't mind really, but I could hear her in the background barking orders, and getting very angry - so nothings changed! She wanted me to go round and drop them through the letter box (since I am not allowed to go inside!), but I've had my beer, and I'm in my dressing gown and nothing else (the horror, the horror), so she eventually agreed to drive round here herself and get them. Gets Billie and her friends into Metroland (indoor theme park thing) half price, and 20% off at Big Luke's as much as you can stuff buffet, so I suppose it saved me some money indirectly).

Bother - now I've forgotten what I was originally going to say!

"It's not an optical illusion. It just looks like one"

What's this ? another post just five minutes later?

I've just rediscovered the joys of YouTube, so I thought I'd post a groovy music video, since my page is getting a little stale - so much choice , OK , lets have 3!!

(Spiderman 3 opens Friday hence the last two - The Ramones do a wonderful cover of the 1967 theme - ah 1967, the original summer of love!)

"Whenever everything is coming your way, you're in the wrong lane"

Blimey where did my days off go? Dozed through most of Monday , can't really remember what happened to Tuesday - although it did end with a rather wonderful and mammoth chat with my good myspace friend Andrea ( she has the most marvellous accent!).
Considering how little sleep I've had I feel pretty good!
I hate to say I told you so, but I think I'm going to miss night shift, mostly because my ward is going through a very rough patch at the moment, and the night is a good place to hide from it!

Oh yes it was my birthday wasn't it? Well despite early optimism from yer fella here, nothing happened.

In other trivial news my local bargain wine supplier was out of my usual so my birthday was spent in the company of some "girlie" rose, which was far too easy to drink.

And yes more DVDs were bought!!

(have you noticed that new Cities hitcounter at the bottom of the page? Who are these people in exotic locations visiting my humble page? - remember those counters have only been there 10 days - "we are not alone" )

“How do people go to sleep? I'm afraid I've lost the knack. I might try busting myself smartly over the temple with the nightlight. I might repeat to myself, slowly and soothingly, a list of quotations beautiful from minds profound; if I can remember” - Dorothy Parker
